DataWeek is an annual event co-organised by the Big Data Value Association (BVDA) and the European federation of Data Driven Innovation Hubs (EUHubs4Data). Their gatherings attract over 400 attendees from both academia and industry, where around 150 speakers discuss how to boost European Data and AI research, innovation and competitiveness during around 40 different thematic sessions. This year, four HaDEA projects participate in a panel discussion (MLOps, Continuous Learning, and Resource Management in the Edge-Cloud Continuum, 28 May 2025, 9:00-10:30) focusing on the latest techniques for managing and orchestrating machine learning workflows in the context of Cloud and Edge computing.
The projects:
ENACT is developing a Cognitive Computing Continuum that can address the needs for optimal resource management and dynamic scaling. By harnessing the power of AI-powered Graph Neural Networks and Deep Reinforcement Learning agents, the project will suggest optimal deployment configurations for hyper-distributed applications. The outcomes of these research and development activities will enhance European businesses competencies and upgrade IT services.
MLSysOps will design, implement and evaluate a novel AI-controlled framework using agent-based AI architecture, for managing efficiently various orchestration mechanisms of cloud-edge continuum systems. Novel Machine Learning (ML) models are designed for achieving energy efficiency, increased performance, network resilience, trustful and secure operation across heterogeneous infrastructures.
COGNIFOG will provide a software solution as a Cognitive Fog Framework (Cognitive-Fog) for monitoring and analysing data flows along the IoT-edge-cloud continuum. The project utilises AI-based analytical services within its Cognitive-Fog environment, enabling the processing of data closer to its source and providing real-time responses for many smart IoT applications for adaptability, dependability, scalability, and energy efficiency.
CODECO aim is to contribute to a smoother and more flexible support of services across the Edge-Cloud continuum via the creation of a novel, cognitive Edge-Cloud management framework. It is developing an ecosystem of open-source toolkits, large-scale experimentation, training tools and events, use-cases across 4 vertical domains (Smart Cities, Energy, Manufacturing, Smart Buildings), and multiple events integrated into a unique Innovation and Research Community Engagement Programme.
Background
